Using your Creative Mind to Achieve Excellence!

Greatest Discovery of all Time

If someone were to ask you what the master discovery of the ages was, what would you answer? Well, you might suggest something in the scientific field like atomic energy or you may suggest travel to space or perhaps a cure for life threatening diseases!  Great as these are, the master discovery of the ages is within all of us.  It is simply the extraordinarily powerful workings of our subconscious mind.

It is through the work of great men like Sigmund Freud only in the last century and which continues to this day that we are beginning to glimpse the power behind our waking lives.

The Limitless Nature of the Subconscious

Research has shown that our conscious awareness is limited in that most of us can only focus our attention on no  more than seven thoughts at a time and even when we do this we go from one to another in quick succession rather than thinking of them all at one time. The subconscious, however, is capable of attending to millions of the most intricate and complex tasks from regulating our breathing and heart beat to controlling all the chemical processes in our body.

We don’t often stop to think that if the subconscious refused to take charge of our breathing or our heart beat we could not function. Yet these are just two of the many processes which sustain life and make it possible for us to get on with our daily lives without being bogged down with thinking about taking our next breath or having the next heart beat.

As a Man Thinketh

“As a man thinketh, so he is”.  These very famous words, by the sage James Allen, tell that the thoughts we dwell upon reflect how we feel and who we really are. It is our feelings that are the driving force behind our every word, action and reaction  and as such paint the picture of ourselves we show to the world. It is by feeling the way we do that we attract to ourselves the people and experiences we have.

Would it then not make more sense for us to practice dwelling on thoughts that will make us feel the feelings that will attract the people and experiences we say we want. Thoughts which recur on a daily basis betray our true feelings but more importantly tell us what we have been attracting into our lives. Thinking a certain way can become a habit and like all habits we become a slave to them having no longer to consciously control them without enormous effort.   Everything we attract into our lives is as a result of those very thoughts we can’t stop thinking and determine how we react to any given situation or person again and again!

The more we think that we can’t do something the more it becomes impossible to do it. Whether we are singers, actors, sport people, writers, teachers, plumbers, doctors or from any walk of life we are only as good as we believe ourselves to be. It doesn’t matter at the end of the day how much natural talent you have or gifted you are, you are limited by the belief you have in yourself.

The Prison of Irrational Fear

So many performers who could be so much better fall victim to and are paralysed by irrational fear, and the ensuing lack of confidence, to the point where they are physically sick before going on stage or before a big competition. This kind of fear imprisons us and forbids us to reach our full potential. The key to the prison which lies within is the unlocking of the power of the subconscious mind freeing us from all kinds of mental and physical bondage.

Within each of us lie infinite wisdom, infinite talent, infinite courage, and infinite love.  It is all there waiting for us to use, we just have to become aware of it and learn to access it thus allowing us to make all our dreams a reality. We need to befriend the genie within each one of us.

Trust in the Power of the Subconscious

“The law of life is the law of belief”, says Dr Joseph Murphy. Do not hold yourself back by holding fast to limiting thoughts and beliefs.  Use the power of your mind to see yourself at your best, performing at your best, feeling your best, looking your best and ultimately this is what you will achieve.  Stop the negative criticism and feed yourself loving, inspiring words, imagine yourself performing perfectly.  Do this regularly and with love and tenderness and watch the changes you bring about in your life. Remember if the subconscious can control all those things that your conscious mind can only deal with one at a time then imagine what it can do with a simple request for excellence!

Using Hypnosis to Regain Your Freedom From the Past

There is nobody in this world more qualified than you to tell you what is best for you. The problem is many of us have lost the power to hear our inner voice of wisdom. We only hear the external sounds that bombard our senses incessantly and listen only to what we have become accustomed to heeding.

Though we may speak the same language we each attach meaning to the words that only we fully understand. We live inside our heads interpreting everything we experience through our five senses and we do this automatically without thinking.

The meanings and interpretations we place on our experiences are based on our past experiences and this is an unconscious process that serves to keep us trapped in the past and in effect only being able to make choices that are governed by what we experienced in our past.

It is the way we are designed in order to survive what was once a very hostile environment. We no longer live in the stone age and though there is little danger of most of us being attacked and eaten by a wild animal when we leave our homes in the morning to go to work there are other more sinister dangers that lie in wait. The dangers I speak of are the ones we make up in our own heads and which are as real as any wild animal our ancestors had to face on a daily basis.

In order for us to overcome these imaginary fears that exert so much influence over our lives we each need to deliberately practice spending more time outside of our heads and more time living in the present moment appreciating the experience of now as separate from and unique to any experience we have ever had. This is called becoming a child again and this is what Jesus meant when he said : Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”

Hypnosis is a way to practice disengaging yourself from beliefs based on your past experiences and which gives you the opportunity to entertain new ways of perceiving yourself, others and the world you inhabit. Hypnosis is like a key you can use to release yourself from the prison you create from your past. Hypnosis gives you back the choice to think unhampered by unconscious forces from the past that dominate your present and which prevent you from living the life you consciously desire.

We all experience hypnosis everyday of our lives but it happens naturally and mostly when our minds are in neutral gear like when we are driving, reading a book or watching TV. Most of us are not aware that we can experience hypnosis deliberately and that we can use the feeling of hypnosis to make changes in our lives that we never thought possible.

Daily practising the art of self hypnosis will get you back your inner hearing so that you once again rely on your inner source of wisdom and regain your inner strength and freedom. Become a child again and regain your kingdom using the power of hypnosis.

Addiction and Forgiveness

Refusal to Forgive

I read an article today  ”My Mom’s Addiction” by a daughter who refuses to forgive her mother. The article is a stark reminder of the damage done by drug addiction. I sent the article to a friend who spent his life addicted to alcohol and as such would be in a better position than me to comment. Following is how he replied:

“ This is my first gut reaction to this article:  it sounds to me like the author of this needs to work on her own personal 8th and 9th Steps.  I do not see forgiveness in this article and I do not see the perspective nor the understanding I would expect to see from an alcoholic, which the author is.

I can certainly understand the pain, confusion and bitterness associated with living in a dysfunctional family like that; what I don’t understand is being a sponsor for other newcomers to AA when it is pretty obvious this lady has quite a bit of work still to do on her own program.”

After reading my friend’s reaction I then scrolled down through the comments left at the end of this woman’s article and to my surprise I found the following comment written by a mother who explains how, without forgiveness, sobriety is meaningless and without solid foundations. Sobriety is a spiritual path based on love and forgiveness.

“I am the mother that you described. I do not know you, but this is my story.  I am clean over 25 years and my daughter still refuses to forgive me for the many years of my addiction.  I have come to learn, in my own recovery that I cannot expect others to change…to seek higher spiritual ground…just because I got sober.  I am not the person that I was when I was drunk/loaded, but I am still not the person I was when my daughter was small.

Today I know that her childs’ mind saw what she needed as a child.  Today, I pray that her refusal to forgive me and enter into adult relationship with me effects her kids in only a minimal way, but I doubt it.

Unforgiveness can be an addiction of its’ own and it can be passed from generation to generation, just like chemical addiction.  Because of AA I know that resentment is the number one killer of my own personal growth in recovery. I hope and pray that God may do for you what you say that you cannot do for yourself.”

How is that for synchronicity?
