Taming the Monkey Mind

Mind Experiment

To investigate how much control you really have over your choice of the thoughts you think try the following mind experiment. Focus your mind on a particular thought. You could choose to think of an image, a sound, a smell, a taste or even a sensation. It doesn’t matter the kind of thought you choose to think, just try focussing on that single thought for no more than a period of 3 minutes. It might seem like very simple exercise to perform but for most people thinking one thought for more than even one minute is simply not possible.

Focus

Don’t take my word for it. Before you continue reading this article, you try it! Sit comfortably in a chair with feet on the ground, back straight and eyes closed. Before you close your eyes take a peek at the clock. Now focus your attention on the air entering and leaving your nose. Focus your mind on the feel of the air entering and leaving the nose and say the word “in” when the air is entering and “out” as it leaves your nose. Whenever you find that your mind has strayed from the task open your eyes and see for yourself how long it took for you to lose control of your attention to your thought.

Meditation

This is precisely what the wise men of old noticed and they believed that if they could not control their thoughts then the mind was free to reek havoc in their lives. They understood that the thoughts we persistently dwell upon affect how we feel which in turn creates the life we experience. Our feelings attract the people and the experiences in our lives and for this reason they felt it essential to find a way to get the mind to dwell upon thoughts that would create the life they wanted so that they were no longer victims of random thought forms chosen for them by their subconscious. This led to a practice we now know as meditation.

Meditation is a practice that develops our ability to focus the mind on the thoughts that will create the life we want. It does this by training the mind to obey us. If you liken the mind to a monkey that noisily chatters and jumps from branch to branch then training the monkey to serve you is one of the objects of meditation.

With the monkey mind under our control we are then in a position to take the reins, as it were, and create the life we desire.

Rescue from Chaos

In this day and age we nurture chaos by feeding our minds with the kind of stimulation and distraction that is now readily available to all of us. We even pander to the monkey minds of our children in giving them  free rein to wander where they will. Rather than teaching our children how to gain control of their minds we encourage them be become victims of their minds which ceaselessly require activity and stimulation. How many times do we hear children say they are bored when not provided with the external stimulation that their minds have grown used to?  The mind is a bottomless pit that will eventually devour the people who have never learned to tame it. You need only look around at how dissatisfied people are with their lives  to see the evidence of this all about us. The key to our freedom and happiness is in placing a ceiling on our desires, appreciating what we have and dwelling on the thoughts that create inner peace and happiness. Meditation is one a step in the right direction.

The Power of Suggestion

The Bouncer!

Our conscious mind acts like a ‘bouncer’ at a night club!  One of its most important functions is to protect the subconscious mind from suggestions that might undermine what we believe to be true about ourselves and the world. It is that critical part of the mind which tells us what is right and what is wrong, what is good for us and what is bad for us according to our own beliefs about reality.

Our subconscious mind, on the other hand, accepts everything thrown at it depending on our individual subconscious belief system.  All of us have our own fears, beliefs and opinions and these govern our lives.  For example, if somebody was to suggest to Mark Cavendish that he’d be unstable every time he got up on a bike, he would just laugh and set off to win another cycling title!  His subconscious belief just would not accept that as true and he would scoff at the very idea.  The same suggestion given to another person could easily be accepted and that person would never ride a bike confidently again.

Autosuggestion

A suggestion like any string of words put together has no power in itself; its power comes from the individual who accepts it. For a suggestion to be accepted by the subconscious you must first find a way to circumvent the critical factor, the ‘bouncer’ that guards its entrance. In hypnosis your critical faculty is not in play to the same degree that it is when you are fully aware.  Suggestions given to a person who is deeply relaxed as in hypnosis are more likely to be accepted by the subconscious. Suggestions accepted by the subconscious are like seeds that eventually grow and bear fruit. This is how suggestion has the power to influence perception and affect changes we desire.

Who among us does not hear the voice telling us how stupid we are when we make a mistake or how fat we look in some clothes or how inadequate we are in certain situations?

Following are examples of the kind of ‘autosuggestions’, suggestions we regularly give ourselves:

Do any of the following sound familiar?

I can’t do it

I’m too old

My memory is going

I’m too fat

I’m not fit enough

I’d look stupid

I can’t afford

I don’t have enough … and so on.

The simple truth is that the more you think these thoughts the more you experience the lack that they are designed to create!  Your subconscious mind will do its best to give you what you ask it for.  So if you keep telling yourself that you are no good then that is what you get!

Logic v Emotion

Wouldn’t it then, make more sense to focus on more positive thoughts and suggestions? Logically, yes, it would make more sense but logic is not the driving force behind the thoughts we automatically dwell upon. The real power behind our thoughts and feelings is the subconscious which is inaccessible to the logical conscious mind unless we can distract the critical factor for long enough.

With the ‘bouncer’ distracted we could give ourselves the following suggestions:

I can achieve anything I want

I remember everything I need to remember; everyday my memory is getting better and better!

I’m young, fit and healthy

I have more than enough for all my needs

I love my life

Hijacked Mind

As adults we think we are in control of our own thoughts, even though all of us know that our minds are regularly hijacked by a voice that tells us the opposite to what we consciously say we want.  Of course, there is nobody else in my head forcing me to think negatively about myself or others. The voice is my own and I have taught myself to think the way I do by the suggestions I and others have given me from the time of my birth.  In order to change what I say to myself to be more positive and see love and joy in everyone and everything I need to enlist the power behind my life…my subconscious!

Heterosuggestions

Heterosuggestions are those suggestions which are passed on to us as children.   The beliefs our parents hold are passed down to us, the role education plays has the effect of controlling young people from the age of four by rules and expectations.  Some of the suggestions are wonderful and some are very negative.  Unfortunately as children we are unable to filter these suggestions we are bombarded with from birth so we take some on board and rebel against others; the good, the bad, and the downright crazy! That is why you will have such a diverse variety of characters that have taken on board some traits of their parents and rejected others.

The Power of Choice through Hypnosis

As adults, though, it is so empowering to know that we are the masters of our own minds. We actually have a choice.  By reconditioning our subconscious minds using positive autosuggestions we can be the people we were truly meant to be.  Free from negative conditioning imposed in childhood.  Constructive autosuggestions can change your life!

At Setanta Hypnotherapy Clinic we have guided many clients to change their beliefs about themselves and the world they live in to become happier, freer and more joyous people.

Following is a video we made to describe the power of choice through Hypnotherapy

Looks! Looks! Looks!

You attract what you feel

So many people of all ages, male and female, feel unattractive and lack confidence about their looks.  What they fail to realise is that this affects all areas of their lives. The truth is, how you feel about yourself comes across in all your communications, personal and public.  When you feel attractive you communicate this verbally and in your body language and everyone you come into contact with picks this up and they are attracted to YOU.  Unfortunately the opposite happens all too often and this leads to unhappiness and the inability to reach one’s full potential.

Brain washing

There is such a false sense of beauty out there that teenagers are bombarded by such images from morning to night. With such easy access to the internet photos and videos of their favorite models, actors and pop singers these images are in their faces twenty four seven!  Reality TV, too, has such a huge impact on these vulnerable kids with programmes such as America’s Next Top Model and X Factor to name but two. Being stick thin, plucked eyebrowless, dyed and covered in inches of foundation gives the message that this is how they should look, that this is how beauty is achieved.  Children are starving themselves to look like models who have died while still working! Ana Carolina Reston Macan and Isabelle Caro being two of the most famous models/actors who died from the pressures of trying to achieve so called physical perfection!!!.

The following  videos describe what our children often aspire to.

We are all born with natural self esteem

We are all born with confidence; we cry when we are hungry and when we need our nappies changed.  We are all born feeling happy with our bodies and our faces, we all have memories of those times we dressed up as children. How as little girls or little boys we looked into a mirror feeling so happy to be the princess we saw in our reflection or Superman with his flowing cape. So what went wrong? The casual frown on a parent’s face, the inappropriate remark about a physical feature or waist size or shape of teeth, name calling such as ‘Spotty or Four Eyes’ all send messages of lack of beauty deep into the subconscious minds of children.  Children take these ‘subtle’ messages on board where they are then planted like seeds in the subconscious and are there with them forever unless rooted out and replaced with images of self beauty and self love.

Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy lends itself very well to accessing the subconscious mind to the rooting out of negative thoughts and feelings you may have about your body. You are not your body, this is a suit you wear and you can choose to see and feel about this suit either positively or negatively.  The choice is ultimately yours and yours alone. We have all met people who walk into a room and fill that room with positivity and confidence … not all are beautiful in the classical sense but what they possess is much more worth aspiring to.  It is inner beauty which comes from loving yourself just the way you are.

Hypnotherapy to Treat Sleeping Disorders

The most common problems we treat

As Hypnotherapists in Private Practice here at Setanta Hypnotherapy Clinic in Peel, Isle of Man my wife Mary and I have treated many people who have come to us for a very wide variety of problems. Anxiety, Depression and Insomnia being by far the most common conditions we have been asked to treat.

Last port of call

We found that very often the three conditions are linked in that someone who finds it difficult to sleep at night often exhibits symptoms of anxiety and/or depression. Most people who come to us have tried everything and we are usually their last hope. We see this as a positive because by the time they arrive to us they have tried everything that focusses on the symptoms so when we suggest that it is time to treat the person they are more open to this.

Smoke alarm

We often use the analogy of people wanting to turn off a smoke alarm because they can’t bear the noise and we suggest that just turning off the alarm does not put out the fire. We explain that every symptom has an emotional root cause in the subconscious. If a person can’t sleep then there must a very good reason but the problem is that the reason is not available to the conscious mind. We guide people to access the subconscious to bring the underlying root cause of their problem to their conscious awareness so that they can then address the problem and in effect put out the fire. Once the fire is out the alarm goes off.

The cause of each person’s condition is unique

Every person who suffers from insomnia will unearth a different root cause for the condition. In all the years I have treated people suffering from insomnia no two have ever shared the same subconscious reason for the condition. Once the cause is discovered there is usually an emotional release called an abreaction. Someone inexperienced in dealing with abreactions could panic when it happens and this can cause further complications. That is why it is very important to seek the help of an experienced and  fully qualified therapist when choosing to embark on this course of therapy.

Because you’re worth it!

I think that the advertising people behind the L’Oreal Products hit the nail on the head when they came up with the catch phrase ‘Because I’m worth it’.  They had cottoned on to the idea that most women put everybody else in the family before themselves when organising the family budget and this often means there is nothing left for them.

Down through the years I have had consultations with many, many women who have come with problems and symptoms which needed to be addressed only for them to forgo therapy for financial reasons.  The problems have ranged from depression, panic attacks, eating disorders, stress, relationship problems, insomnia, overweight, and confidence issues to mention just a few.  All of these women were emotionally drained and badly and desperately in need of help.

There were some who told me immediately that their husbands or partners would not allow them to spend the cost of therapy on themselves, some who left the clinic full of enthusiasm about starting the following week after they discussed with their partners (they never got back) and others who told me that the children’s football subs and gym fees were due and they couldn’t afford therapy.

It is always with a heavy heart that I let these women go.  Our fee payments are generous, we have a structure in place where it is affordable for all to take up therapy without too much financial strain but some women still feel that they are just not worth it.  I often think that if these mothers who believe that by giving their children every chance that they themselves didn’t have could talk to their children twenty years down the line I think they would be astounded by the fact the gym and all those other extracurricular activities were not worth it!  Given the choice I believe most children would prefer to have seen a happy, confident, healthy mother at the end of school each day.

So come on you mothers … you are worth it! Your emotional needs and wants are just as important as anyone else’s.   In fact, when you put yourself first sometimes you are teaching your daughters to look after themselves; you are their role model, their leader.  I’m very sure that if you saw your daughter suffering in any way and all that stood between her and happiness and health was the cost of therapy you would insist that she would avail of the therapy.

Most people think nothing of having a maintenance service on their car or even buying a new car but then think twice about seeking help when they themselves have a problem.  You are the most important person in your life. Your family needs you to be strong and free and most important of all to be fulfilled. It is not so much what you say but what you do that has the biggest influence on your children. So just don’t buy makeup and hair dye to superficially make you believe you’re worth it. Make changes which will change you forever and not just until the grey grows back!

Hypnosis to Create the Life you Truly Desire

The Split Mind

The mind is split and that is why we sometimes find ourselves talking to ourselves. The internal dialogue we each experience is as a result of the divided mind. One part of the mind sides with the ego and is continuously filling the silence with noise. The noise I refer to is the internal dialogue that keeps us distracted and focussed on what we imagine to be real.

The Internal Critic

The more immersed we become in this internal dialogue the more real our problems and stresses become. The dialogue is a creation of the ego and its sole purpose is to keep us focussed on the unreal which then becomes real to us. The more we can disengage from this idle chatter the more peaceful we become and the closer we feel to our true nature. Hypnosis is a wonderful tool which gives us the ability to, in effect, turn off the noise that keeps us distracted and daily practice brings peace and enjoy into our lives.

The ego needs us to believe in time for its own survival. Without the construct of time the ego cannot exist because we would immediately see through the illusion. The way the ego keeps us believing in time is by making us jump back and forth between past and future never actually allowing us to ever be in the present moment. The ego plays a very clever trick on us and we all fall for it every time. The trick involves getting us to make the association between what has happened in the past and making us equate that with the future. So, in effect, we are conditioned to expect from the future what we have experienced in the past.

Breaking the Cycle

The way to break this cycle is in understanding that it is our focus of attention that attracts our experiences to us. If we continue to place our focus on what has happened in the past then that is exactly what we will attract to us in the future. Using hypnosis to ground ourselves in the present we can sever our false connection between past and future and choose a different focus for our attention. By learning to place our attention on what we want to experience we eventually attract those very experiences and people to create the future we desire.

A Shift in Awareness

Some people imagine hypnosis as something that a hypnotist does to them and associate it with entertainment . No, hypnosis is simply using any one or more of your five senses to bring us into the present through focussed attention. I regularly do it as I am walking to work and I focus my attention on the beauty of everything I see. By looking for the beauty of everything that is presented to my eyes this creates a shift in awareness that takes me out of my head and the monkey mind ceases its idle chatter. The feeling of well being that accompanies this shift in awareness is unmistakeable.

The Art of Self Hypnosis

All that is required is our willingness to get out of our heads at various times during the day and eventually we will spend more and more time in the present creating the life we desire. It is all right there and all we have to do is simply develop the discipline of mind to bring our attention regularly to it until it manifests.

Mary and I have each created an audio you can download from our Facebook Shop or from the downloads page on our website. The audio is called Introduction to Hypnosis and  designed specifically to teach the art of self hypnosis and regularly playing the audio teaches you how to focus the mind so that you can deliberately choose to dwell on the thoughts to attract the life you truly desire.

5-Steps of Successful Self Hypnosis – Video

New Year Resolution to Stop Smoking using Hypnotherapy

New Year Resolutions

That time of year is fast approaching when people decide to make their New Year resolutions!  Once again Stop Smoking is on the top five most popular changes people set themselves. Every New Year’s Day cigarettes, ashtrays and lighters are thrown into the bin with great determination as smokers decide “that’s it, no more!”

Within a few days most are back smoking again!

There are a couple of important reasons why this occurs so frequently and the most important one is the fact that the decision to stop smoking is made with the conscious mind while the habit resides largely in the subconscious mind.  This is the main reason why it is so difficult to go “cold turkey”, willpower alone cannot reach the subconscious mind but hypnosis can!

Why choose Hypnosis to stop smoking?

Why hypnosis is top of the list of aids for stopping smoking is because it addresses the habit at the subconscious level. It is also important that the smoker has decided consciously, that s/he really wants to stop smoking. It is this agreement between conscious and subconscious that is vital to the success of this therapy.

Hypnosis is just a state of altered awareness: the conscious mind is relaxed in order to address the subconscious mind and this state is achieved easily and effortlessly provided the smoker wants this to happen.  (Of course, nobody in their right mind is going to come into the clinic to embark on my Stop Smoking Therapy and refuse to go into hypnosis!).

Once learned, smoking becomes a subconscious activity that the smoker does not have to think about while doing it just like reading and walking.  When we were very young we learned how to read by consciously putting sounds together to make up each word, now we read without having to consciously put in any effort because we have taught ourselves to do so.  Smokers have taught themselves to smoke in just the same way, the first cigarettes were horrible, causing nausea and dizziness but after some time those feelings disappeared and the habit of smoking became just part of the smoker’s daily routine.

Mary Nathan’s Personalised Stop Smoking Therapy

Each person who comes into Setanta Hypnotherapy Clinic is an individual.  Therefore, my Stop Smoking Therapy is personalised.  Each person coming in has a set of triggers and associations to smoking and these are talked about and dealt with at the conscious level before the subconscious mind is even brought into play.  By tackling a smoker’s set of beliefs about their smoking the client has a chance to decide if these are indeed valid any longer. Many clients believe that smoking relieves stress … with all those poisons and chemicals attacking the body!  Some clients believe that smoking helps them to reduce their appetite and stay slim without considering the obvious alternative of eating healthily to achieve the same result.

Smokers often light up without even thinking about it; their minds are preoccupied with something else.  At the clinic the client is guided to uncover, for themselves, these automatic triggers, which then renders them conscious and open to change.

Introduction Audio CD

This audio CD is very important to our private practice. I require anyone seeking my help, regardless of the therapy they seek, to play the CD for at least one week before starting treatment with me. The CD gives the client the experience of hypnosis in the privacy of their own home so the client comes to therapy already able to achieve hypnosis and without any fears or hang ups about the process. Many people report that their original symptoms were alleviated as a result of regularly playing the CD prior to starting treatment and everyone reported definitely feeling more relaxed and a feeling of well being.

The CD gives the listener an invaluable tool for life in that it teaches the art of relaxation enabling the listener to remain calm and relaxed in situations which once they may have found stressful. The CD works best when played at night and in the morning on waking. Passively listening to the CD is all that is required and the subconscious does the rest. The CD lasts about 45 minutes and can be transferred to an iPod, MP3 player, electronic alarm clock or such device. The cost of this audio download is £29.99

Click the following link to Purchase Mary’s Introduction to Hypnosis Audio

The CD would be ideal for someone who wished to learn how to relax or for someone to experience the feeling of hypnosis if they are considering embarking on a course of hypnotherapy to resolve a problem. The CD would also be an ideal tool for someone studying to be a hypnotherapist, or for a qualified hypnotherapist to prepare clients for therapy as I do.

Every client coming for my Stop Smoking Therapy is required to play this CD before starting their therapy so if you are considering hypnotherapy as a means to quit smoking then this would be an excellent starting point.

Well formed outcomes

Once the client has worked on the triggers and associations with smoking the changes are decided upon. This is the stage in therapy when agreement is reached consciously and subconsciously and the well formed outcomes are decided upon. What do you want to do instead of smoking?  How do you want to look?  How do you want to feel?  How do you want to exercise? How do you want to spend that extra cash?  All or any of the above are just some of the new decisions the client has a chance to voice and this is why the therapy I provide is so successful.  Each client voices his or her new changes in their own language, their personal choices … this allows the client a better chance of succeeding in becoming a permanent and natural non-smoker.

Personalised Audio CD

Just as it took time to learn how to drive effortless the non smoking habit needs time to become a permanent and effortless part of your life.  Each client has a personalised Stop Smoking audio made just for them and containing their well formed outcomes and personal choices framed in their own unique language. Each client is recommended to listen to their personalised CD for at least 90 days after session #2.

No two audios are the same because no two clients are the same!  Each audio has a relaxation induction, confidence building, the positive suggestions for stopping smoking and what the clients want to do instead of smoking. The CD also reinforces the healthy choices made by the client in session so that over eating  does not become a substitute for the smoking habit.

Robert Monroe’s First Out of Body Experience

by Xavier_Nathan
Published on: November 28, 2011

Background

Robert Allen Monroe died March 17th 1995. He started his career as a New York Radio Broadcaster and went on to pioneer ground breaking research into human consciousness. He was the founder of the Monroe Institute and the originator of the concept of Binaural Beats for the purposes of mind entrainment. He was the creator of Hemi Sync ( Hemispherical Synchronization) audio products to expand consciousness. He was also a pilot and had a natural love of and talent for music. It is said that he was able to read music at age four without ever having studied the subject.

The Beginning of The Monroe Research into Human Consciousness

He started his research by trying to develop a system to get people to learn in their sleep but the first problem he had to overcome was how to get people to sleep. In order to develop the Learn in Your Sleep system he had to find a way to put his subjects to sleep without the use of medication.

As he was in the business of sound he decided to use sound to put people to sleep. He found that certain combinations of frequencies affected people in different ways. He found that various combinations of sound frequencies could put people to sleep, keep them on high alert or even make them experience expanded states of consciousness.

This was the beginning of the audio technology that he would later become famous for. 1975 he registered the first of several patents for audio products using binaural beats designed to stimulate brain functions.

The Lead Up – Taxing Up The Runway

Robert Monroe, the President of the company, volunteered to be the chief subject.

Something happened to Robert Monroe during the procedures he volunteered to undergo. While listening to the audio he had developed he began to have out of body experiences and these experiences are well documented in many of his books on the subject. His book , Journeys Out Of Body, published in 1971 is credited with coining the phrase OOBE or Out of Body Experience.

Prior to him leaving his body he reports having a recurring dream of taking off like an aeroplane but being unable to find a way through the tangle of wires overhead. He also reported feeling as if his body was shaking though physically he was not shaking. The vibration he experienced was an internal one.

He continued with the sound experimentation and he continued to experience these internal vibrations. Up to this he had been fighting the vibrations when he had them because he felt afraid. So one day, rather than fight them he decided to go with them. He simply relaxed into the vibration and after a few minutes it faded and he realised it was nothing to fear.

Take Off

He kept doing this and each time the vibration would simply fade after a few minutes. Then one night as he lay waiting for the vibration to end so he could go to sleep his mind wandered. As Monroe was a pilot he started thinking about the weather and how perfect the weather conditions were going to be for flying the following day. He felt elated at the prospect and his heart was full of joy and feelings of well being. So as he continued to wait for the vibration to end he felt something bump against his shoulder. It was the ceiling of his bedroom. He thought he saw a fountain coming out of the floor. He didn’t know where he was and thought it was a strange dream that he was having. The fountain he thought he saw turned out to be the chandelier hanging from the ceiling. Looking down he saw his wife lying beside a man. He moved toward the bed to look at who could be in bed with his wife and suddenly he realised the man he was looking at was himself. He then became afraid and the idea that he was dying entered his mind. He started to swim frantically to get back inside his body and in a flash he was back inside his body.

That was Robert Monroe’s very first OOBE or Out of Body Experience all the way back in 1958.

Hypnotherapy for Women

Hypnotherapy for Women’s issues

There are many stages women experience throughout their life span, some women sail through each stage from puberty to menopause without the slightest discomfort … embracing changes in their bodies at puberty, enjoying full active sexual lives as they mature into young women, experiencing pregnancy and childbirth and all the stages connected with birthing and then continuing their sexual lives until menopause and beyond.

Other women, however, have different experiences and may go through awful physical and emotional upheaval in one or several stages not knowing that there is help available to alleviate the symptoms.

Pre-Menstrual Tension

Let me discuss firstly PMT and the symptoms involved.  Needless to say the symptoms are not always the same for every woman and indeed they may even vary from month to month for the sufferer.  The physical symptoms may include headache, tummy cramp, backache, hot flashes, fatigue, tenderness in the breasts, and weight gain. Alongside these physical symptoms are the emotional symptoms.  Moods can be so changeable that she may seem like a completely different person.  Irritability, anxiety, stress, sadness and depression are some of the emotional symptoms that women suffer from, sometimes from one or two of the aforementioned, sometimes from all!  These symptoms have an adverse effect on your life, family, employment and social life.

PMT and Hypnotherapy

Needless to say a visit to your GP is advised to rule out any other physical cause, and along with your doctor’s recommendations Hypnotherapy allows you to take control of your emotions because your mind is the control centre of your body. Hypnosis and the practise of self-hypnosis help you to use your own mind to minimise or even banish aches and pains associated with PMT allowing you to get on with life without discomfort.

Vaginismus

This is a sexual problem where sex is painful or impossible due to intense involuntary muscular contractions.  This condition occurs when the vagina is unable to relax; it is a reflex action like when you blink if something comes close to your eyes.

For some women the condition is severe prohibiting them from having sexual intercourse or even being examined medically. Some women may have had enjoyed years of pain free intercourse and vaginisimus occurs later in life.

However once vaginismus has been experienced it is a cycle which tends to recur as the vagina muscles automatically tighten due to the expectation of pain.  The experience of pain reinforces the fear of pain so this begins a cycle and a pattern emerges.

Hypnotherapy and Vaginimus

Because vaginisimus is involuntary you cannot consciously stop it from happening. The action is controlled by the subconscious mind and cannot be overridden by the conscious mind. The most effective and permanent treatment for vaginisimus is Analytical Hypnotherapy … that is to say by finding and resolving the underlying emotional root cause of the problem to cure the symptom.

Some women already know the cause, perhaps an early sexual experience.  The trauma needs to be dealt with appropriately in order to let go of the symptoms.  Some women may have no idea of the cause but there is always one, stored away in the subconscious mind, it may be something small, something you have consciously forgotten but once you find it and deal with it you will free yourself of those symptoms which cause so much unhappiness.

Orgasmic Dysfunction in women

This condition is when a woman fails to reach orgasm even when they enjoy sex. There are two kinds of orgasmic dysfunction: Primary dysfunction when a woman has never experienced orgasm and Secondary dysfunction when she has attained orgasm in the past but currently cannot.

The causes are varied, drugs, alcohol, medical conditions which affect the nerve supply to the pelvis and hormone disorders.  Emotional problems such as sexual abuse or rape or indeed negative attitudes to sex, lack of emotional connection, boredom and also contribute to orgasmic dysfunction.

What helps? Education about sexual stimulation, healthy attitudes to sex, taking charge of one’s own sexual pleasure by asking for and guiding a partner to provide the stimulation which feels best for you, all help.  It is important to note that the more a woman focuses on achieving orgasm the more elusive it becomes.

Hypnotherapy and Orgasmic Dysfunction

For all cases of orgasmic dysfunction Analytical Hypnotherapy is advised to get to the root cause of the condition.  When a woman undergoes Psychoanalysis and finds the reason behind the condition then she can let go of the condition, making new decisions on how she now chooses to live her life.

I have written extensively on Menopause in a previous blog, please read that to find out information on how Hypnotherapy helps alleviate the most common symptoms of menopause.

Women do not have to suffer in silence for years and years. There is help available to free women to enjoy all aspects of their lives, every day, every month, and every year no matter what age.
